ASRC Supports Kentucky Girls STEM Collaborative Conference
ASRC recently sponsored the 2010 Kentucky Girls STEM Collaborative conference at the University of Louisville by providing scholarship funding for local girls to attend. The Kentucky Girls STEM Collaborative is part of a national program founded and supported by the National Science Foundation to encourage female students and women who wish to return to school to pursue careers in the STEM disciplines – science, technology, engineering and math.
ASRC Donates to "Shop with a Cop" Program
Each year, ASRC donates funds to the Louisville Metro Police Department's Second Division "Shop with a Cop" program to help provide gifts for needy children during the holiday season.
ASRC Donates to SOCKS
In 2008, ASRC provided funds to establish the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Rose Garden. Each year, ASRC makes a donation to Supporting Our Community Kids School (SOCKS) to help maintain this garden project.
Community Educational Partnerships
As a result of a continuing partnership between ASRC and Farnsley Middle School, students at Farnsley have had the opportunity to learn about space from a NASA astronaut and to develop and implement an outdoor classroom designed to encourage exploration of the elements of our ecosystem. Also:
- Students at Farnsley work and learn in a state-of-the-art math/computer lab, made possible by a $30,000 donation from ASRC
- ASRC provided funding for Farnsley Middle School to purchase 14 robots for use in the school's new robotics class in 2008
- ASRC employees volunteer as judges each year for the Farnsley Science Fair
- ASRC employees are active members of the Cane Run Elementary School playground fundraising committee
University of Louisville Engineering Expo
ASRC partners annually with the University of Louisville’s Speed School to promote engineering careers at the Expo.
ASRC and Waste Management Receive Certification for Campground Natural Area
In 2009, ASRC received the "Wildlife at Work" certification from the Wildlife Habitat Council for the Campground Natural Area, which recognizes outstanding native habitat management and environmental education programs developed through partnerships with local organizations.
